SHMUEL-LEYZER ABELLO

SHMUEL-LEYZER ABELLO (b. September 5, 1900
     He was born in Pinczow, Poland.  He studied in religious primary school and yeshivas.  In 1927 he emigrated to Toronto.  He was active in Mizrachi.  From 1928 until 1959, he published articles in Toronto’s Idishe zhurnal (Jewish journal).  For many years he wrote as well for Keneder odler (Canadian Eagle) in Montreal.  He edited Toyre-veavoyde shtime (Voice of Torah and worship) in Toronto in 1936; and Religyeze arbayter-shtime (Voice of religious laborers) in Toronto in 1944.  He also wrote under the pen name: Sh. A. Ben-Yitskhok.
