YOYSEF (YOSEF, JOSEF) ALBIRT (b. 1904)
Born in Vilna, later lived in Lide (Lida). He worked there as the editor of a Yiddish
weekly. During WWII and thereafter, he
was in Tashkent. Author of: Bandazhn
proletarishe (Proletarian bandages) (Lida, 1935); Gerangl-gezangen
(Songs of struggle) (Vilna, 1936), 23 pp.; Masholim (Fables)
(Brestetshko, 1939), 32 pp.; and other works.
In 1942 he published a book of poetry in Tashkent, Af milkhome temes
(On war themes), which was translated into Russian as Krasnie poezda
(Red convoy). His subsequent career
remains unknown.
