ALTER GILER

ALTER GILER
“A young man, a shopkeeper who would stay in his shop and weigh out a pound of salt and a half-ounce of pepper—and between the salt and the pepper, he’d weigh and measure a superb poem.”  He contributed for fifteen years to Volkovisker lebn (Volkovisk [Wołkowysk] life).  He was murdered by the Nazis during WWII in Volkovisk.
