YANKEV BLEKHMAN (JACOBO BLECHMAN)

YANKEV BLEKHMAN (JACOBO BLECHMAN) (b. 1905)

He was born in Nagy Szécsény, Hungary.  He attended religious elementary schools and yeshivas.  In 1928 he moved to Uruguay and worked as correspondent for Undzer tsayt (Our time) of Kishinev and edited the children’s page of Tog (Day) in Montevideo.  He published current events articles and pedagogical essays.  He edited the monthly magazine Undzer veg (Our way) in Montevideo.  He was also a contributor to Hebrew-language publications.  He was a teacher and director of the Yiddish-Hebrew schools in Montevideo.
