SHIMEN BEN-LEVI
Born in Poland, he lived through WWII in German concentration
camps. After liberation, he emigrated to
the United States where he published: In yomer-tal in land fun vilde broyne
bestyes (In lamentation in the land of wild brown beasts) (New York:
Shimoni, 1948), 48 pp. It is written in
primitive verse in the tone of a lament following the Jewish Holocaust.
