YOYSEF GOLDSHAYN (JOSÉ GOLDCHAIN)

YOYSEF GOLDSHAYN (JOSÉ GOLDCHAIN) b. March 8, 1901)
            He was born in Bolimów, Poland.  In 1923 he emigrated to Argentina and from there in 1930 to Chile.  His first publication was a story “Khaloymes” (Dreams) in Tshilener yidisher vokhnblat (Chilean weekly Jewish newspaper) in 1931.  He published stories and reportage pieces under the pen names A. Groyne and Mortkhe Bolimovner in: Undzer fraynd (Our friend) and Folks-shtime (Voice of the people) in Buenos Aires, and Der veg (The way) in Mexico.  In 1949 he brought out a pamphlet of sentimental lyrical stories about Jewish life in Chile, entitled Fun a vayt land (From a distant land) (Santiago, 1949), 66 pp.  He was also strongly active in Jewish cultural life in Chile.
