YANKEV GOLDMAN (b. 1847)
He was born in Minsk,
Byelorussia. For a time he was a member
of the local Jewish community council.
He authored a religious work, entitled Tapuḥe zahav (Fruit of
gold), part 1 (Minsk, 1887), 108 pp., in which he translated in a folkish
Yiddish various sayings, legends, and expressions found in Tanakh, Talmud, and
midrash, literally and figuratively.
