ALEKSANDER KIPEN (b. 1870)
He was
born in Melitopol, Russia. He lectured in
the higher agronomical courses in St. Petersburg. He contributed to Russian-language agricultural
journals. From 1903 he published stories—some
from Jewish life—in Russian. In Yiddish
he published a handbook entitled Der
vayngortn, praktishe onvayzungen vi tsu flantsn vayngertner in step-rayon fun
yekaterinoslaver, khersoner un podolyer gubernyes (The vineyard, practical
instructions on how to plant vineyards in the steppe district of Ekaternoslav,
Kherson, and Podolia Provinces) (St. Petersburg: YIKO, 1912/1913), 112 pp.
