ELYE-MEYER KRUGMAN (1905-October 1, 1978)
He was
born in Vilna. He studied in religious
elementary school, yeshiva, and later liturgical music in a conservatory. He would perform as a singer. In 1934 he departed for the land of
Israel. He lived in Kibbutz Maḥane Yisrael, later in Afula
where he was a cantor, teacher, and construction worker. For many years he collected and wrote poems,
fables, and parodies, and composed melodies to Yiddish and Hebrew poetry. He published: 10 lider fun erets-yisroel (Ten songs from the land of Israel) (Tel
Aviv, 1934/1935), 24 pp. He died in Tiv’on,
Israel.
