YISROEL KARNIOLI (b. 1890)
The
Hebraized surname for Rogovin, he was born on an estate near Vilna. He graduated from the University of
Geneva. In 1925 he arrived in the land
of Israel. He mostly wrote in Hebrew,
but for many years he did contribute articles to the Yiddish press: Tsukunft (Future), Yidishes tageblat (Jewish daily newspaper), Idisher kemfer (Jewish fighter), Di tsayt (The times), and Tog
(Day)—in New York; Haynt (Today),
Moment (Moment), and Dos leben (Life)—in Warsaw; and Folk un tsien (People and Zion) in
Jerusalem; among others.
