ZALMEN KRATKO (May 19, 1906-March 11, 1982)
He was
born in Itbitse (Izbica), Poland. He
graduated from high school in Chełm. He was an active Communist, in later years
switching to Mapam (United Workers’ Party). From 1969 he was living in Israel. He was a regular contributor to Yisroel shtime (Voice of Israel) in Tel
Aviv. He also wrote for Hebrew-language
publications. He published the booklet Far vos shlis ikh zikh on in mapam (Why
I am joining Mapam) (Tel Aviv, 1973), 30 pp.
He also bibliographical works on the Jews of Poland in Galed (Testimony) in Tel Aviv (1978/1979). He died in Bat Yam, Israel.
