YISROEL KRAVETS (b. March 17, 1898)
He was born
in Shedlets (Siedlce), Poland. He worked
as a tailor and was active in the Bund.
He lived in Warsaw and from 1958 was in Israel. In book form: Der gehenem baym lebn, 5 yor untern natsizm (Hell in life, five
years under Nazism) (Tel Aviv, 1968), 356 pp., in Hebrew translation by Yaakov
Gurali as: Hagehinom baḥayim, ḥamesh
shanim taḥat shilton hanatsim bair shedlets (Hell in life, five years
under Nazi rule in the city of Siedlce) (Tel Aviv, 1971), 248 pp.; Oyfbli un fargey (Revival and moving on)
(Tel Aviv, 1973), 112 pp. At Yad Vashem
in Jerusalem, one may find Kravets’s two typewritten manuscripts: a monograph
about Siedlce (234 pp.); and an autobiography (229 pp.).
