ROKHL-RIVKE
PEYPERT (b. ca. 1896)
She was born in Shadove (Šeduva),
Kovno district, Lithuania. From late
1913 she had come to South Africa. She
lived in Cape Town, Transvaal, and Johannesburg. For thirteen years she wrote Russian
poetry. In 1914 she published Yiddish
poems in: Der afrikaner (The
African), Der tsienist (The Zionist),
Dos naye vort (The new word), and the
monthly Dorem afrike (South Africa)—in
Johannesburg. She contributed
periodically to Di tsayt (The times)
in London and to the Yiddish newspapers in Lithuania.
