SHIYE PULNER

SHIYE PULNER (1896-1942)
He was an ethnologist, bibliographer, and researcher.  Until 1934 he was a contributor to the central library and museum in Leningrad.  Later, until the Nazi invasion of Russia, he was in charge of the Jewish division of the national museum of Georgia in Tiflis.  He published important research in Russian and Yiddish in the field of ethnography and bibliography in a number of Soviet periodicals.  Some of his writings on Jews in Georgia, sent for publication in Yivo-bleter (Pages for YIVO) in Vilna, were lost during the Nazi occupation.  He died during the siege of Leningrad.
