MOYSHE GERSHT (1903-August 1944)
He was the older brother of Yehude-Leyb Gersht.  He was born in Fabianetz, near Lodz, Poland, into a Hassidic family.  He studied in yeshivas, later becoming a laborer.  From his youth he was an active leader in Poale agudat yisrael (Agudat Israel Workers) in Lodz.  He later was a speaker and lecturer.  For many years he was a contributor and technical editor of the Lodz weekly newspaper Der idisher arbeter (The Jewish laborer).  There he published articles on political, social, and Jewish issues.  During the Nazi occupation, he was living in the Lodz ghetto.  In August 1944 he was deported to Auschwitz and murdered there.
