SORE KHAYKIN

SORE KHAYKIN (b. 1926)
She was born in Minsk, Byelorussia, to a father who was an engineer—he later worked in the administration of Birobidzhaner shtern (Birobidzhan star).  In 1946, she and her parents moved to Birobidzhan, and for a time she was a manager of the Yiddish division of the local library.  She published children’s poetry in Birobidzhaner shtern and other Yiddish publications until the liquidation of Jewish culture in Russia in 1948.
