TSILE LEVONEN (CYLA LEVANON)

TSILE LEVONEN (CYLA LEVANON) (May 30, 1906-December 13, 1974)
            She was born in Warsaw.  She was educated in the Hassidic spirit, but later studied at a Polish high school.  In 1938 she made aliya to Israel.  She published stories in: Letste nayes (Latest news) and Yidishe tsaytung (Jewish newspaper) in Tel Aviv; and Unzer shtime (Our voice) in Paris.  In book form: Mirele un andere dertseylungen (Mirele and other stories) (Tel Aviv, 1972), 96 pp., in Hebrew translation by Shelomoh Shenhod, Mirele, sipure heavar vehahove (Tel Aviv, 1974), 84 pp.  He died in Tel Aviv.
