SHIMSHN
SHTOKHAMER (1899-April 26, 1945)
He was born in Sokol (Sokil),
Galicia. From 1924 he was a member of
the Warsaw rabbinate. He survived the
Warsaw Ghetto and died in a bombing while in a German camp. He wrote for: Dos yudishe tageblat (The Jewish daily newspaper), Ortodoksisher yugend bleter (Orthodox
youth pages), and other serials. He
thought of Yiddish as a defense against assimilation.
