RUVN SHTRUBEL (May 4, 1913-1958)
He was a
poet, born in Bendin (Będzin),
Poland. He spent WWII in the Soviet
Union. In 1950 he came to New York,
worked in a sweatshop, and was active in a Jewish group known as Oyfleb
(Revival). He published poetry in: Abe
Gordin’s Shriftn (Writings), Unzer tsayt (Our time), Oyfsnay (Afresh), Nyu-yorker vokhnblat (New York weekly newspaper), Afn shvel (At the threshold), Amerikaner (American), Loshn un lebn (Language and life) in London,
Unzer shtime (Our voice) in Paris,
and Ilustrirte literarishe bleter
(Illustrated literary leaves) in Buenos Aires.
In book form: Mayn drang, lider
(My longing, poems) (New York, 1961), 29 pp.
He died in New York.
