MEYER SHTERNBERG (MEER STERNBERG)


MEYER SHTERNBERG (MEER STERNBERG) (1891-1973)
He was born in Lipkan (Lipcani), Romania, the brother of Yankev Shternberg.  He translated, with Olga Brateş, Sholem-Aleichem’s Geklibene verk (Selected writings) as Opere alese, vol. 2: Blondzhene shtern (Wandering stars), vol. 3: Funem yarid (From the fair), and vol. 5: Dertseylungen (Stories) into Romanian (Bucharest, 1964-1969).  He published his memoirs in Oyfshteyg (Ascent) in Bucharest (1972).  He died in Bucharest.
