LEON SHTERN (1909-February 13, 1970)
He was
born in Vlotslavek (Włocławek), Poland. During
WWII he lived in the Soviet Union and was also confined there in camps. After the war he returned to Poland and
subsequently departed for Paris. From
1958 he was living in New York, where he served as secretary of the World
Jewish Culture Congress. He was active
in the Polish Bund and later in the United States. In 1939 he edited the Bundist Vlotslavek veker (Włocławek
alarm). In Paris (before 1958) he edited
the Bundist Unzer shitme (Our voice) He
also wrote articles for Unzer tsayt (our
time). He died in New York.
