SHILU ELENBOGEN

SHILU ELENBOGEN
She was in the ghettos of the Romanian town of Murafe and Gura Humor in southern Bukovina.  She published two poems which were sung in the ghettos of Romania: “Nayntsn hundert eyn un fertsik” (1941) and “Shushke, vintl” (Whisper, little breeze).  Meyer Shternberg from Romania handed them over to Sh. Katsherginsk for publication in Lider fun getos and lagern (Songs of the ghettos and camps) (New York, 1948).  Music for her poem “Shushke, vintl” was written by Fayvish Rozenblum who was also in the Romanian ghettos and later died in Gura Humor in 1946.
