He was a follower of the Jewish
Enlightenment from Poland, who later lived in The Hague, Holland, and was a
teacher there for the wealthy family De Lima.
In 1791 his Yiddish-language mathematics textbook appeared in Amsterdam:
Onfangs grinde der aritmatik tsum
gebroykh der yugnd bay yidishn natsyon (Beginning foundation for arithmetic
for use by youth of the Jewish nation) (84 pp.).
