ADOLF HES (July 18, 1865-ca. 1909)
His proper name was Yudl Shprits, born in Pereyaslav, Poltava region, Ukraine. He studied in religious elementary school, in a yeshiva in Lithuania, and later, when he was in the United States, he studied medicine (1899) and practiced as a doctor in Milwaukee. He wrote (1896-1897) articles on hygiene for Idisher kemfer (Jewish fighter) in New York.
