MIRIAM
NELSON (b. 1891)
She was born in a village near
Zhlobin, Mohilev district, Byelorussia.
As a child she moved to New York and attended English-language school. She contributed poetry to: Forverts (Forward), Tog (Day), and Der amerikaner
(The American)—in New York. In book
form: Zun un shotn, lider un poemes
(Sun and shadow, poetry) (New York, 1951), 211 pp. She was active in the Pioneer Women and other
Jewish women’s organizations in New York.
