C. SATEANU

C. SATEANU (January 23, 1878-February 28, 1948)
            The pseudonym of Khayim-Yoysef Sheynfeld, he was born in Jassy (Iași), Romania.  He was a Romanian Jewish historian and journalist, who translated many works by Sholem-Aleykhem into Romanian, such as: Staţia Baranovici (original: Stantsye baranovitsh [Baranovich Station]) (Iași, 1921), 102 pp.; Knortn (Cnards) (Iași, 1923), 260 pp.; An umglik (An unhappiness) (Bucharest, 1927), 31 pp.; Povestiri tragicomice (Tragicomic stories) (Iași, 1928), 320 pp.; A “66” (A 66) (Bucharest), 78 pp.
