HARRY SHEKHTER (January 1, 1896-February 3, 1980)
He was
born in Trembovle (Terebovlya), Poland. He
emigrated to the United States in the early 1920s. Several years later until 1932, he lived in
Vienna, later still in the land of Israel until 1937, at which point he settled
in New York. From 1961 he was residing
in Miami Beach, Florida. He wrote a few
sketches and songs for the Yiddish theater in New York. From 1961 he frequently published humorous
items in “Dos shtif kind” (The stepchild) in Forverts (Forward) in New York.
He died in Miami Beach.
