KHAYIM RUBINSHTEYN


KHAYIM RUBINSHTEYN (1870-February 1, 1948)
            He was born in Semyatitsh (Siemiatycze), Poland.  His father was a rabbi.  He received ordination into the rabbinate.  He acquired several foreign languages on his own.  In 1933 he emigrated to Australia.  He edited Oystralishe yidishe nayes (Australian Jewish news)—earlier known as Oystralyer lebn (Australian life).  At the same time, he published Sidney yidishe nayes (Sydney Jewish news).  In 1938 he published a monthly journal (about five issues appeared in print).  He was one of the builders of a Yiddish press in Australia.  He died in Melbourne.
