ROKHL KIRSH-HOLTMAN (b. 1882)

            She was born in Plungyan (Plungė), Lithuania.  In 1913 she emigrated to the United States.  From time to time she wrote in Fraynd (Friend) of the Workmen’s Circle, Tsukunft (Future), Frayhayt (Freedom), and Kamf (Struggle).  In book form: Fir barimte froyen (Four celebrated women) (New York: International Labor Order, 1938), 27 pp.; and Mayn lebns-veg (My life’s path) (New York, 1948), 159 pp.  She translated (with Moyshe Holtman) Lenin’s Der radikaler komunist (The radical Communist [original: Detskaya bolezn’ “levizny” v kommunizme (Infantile illness of “leftwing” Communism)]) (New York, 1920); and Bukharin’s Der alef”beys fun komunizm (The ABC of Communism) (New York, 1923), 172 pp.
