Y.-L. BER (1908-1942)
He was born in Lodz, Poland, into a laboring family. He studied in religious primary school as
well as a Polish elementary school. He
worked as a laborer. He was in Lodz
until September 1939, and later in the Warsaw Ghetto. He began publishing sketches in Nayer
folksblat (New people’s newspaper) in Lodz (1932). He wrote a poem and six short stories
(Warsaw, 1941) which were discovered in the reopened Ringelblum Archive in
Warsaw. He died in Warsaw.
