YOYSEF BANK (b. 1888)
Born in Kovno, Lithuania.
At age fifteen, he emigrated to the United States. He began publishing in Fraye arbeter shtime
(Free voice of labor) and in other periodicals.
His poems and ballads have a popular tone. From 1908 he published humorous poems and
stories under the pseudonym “Bankir von yoseldorf.” For many years he contributed to Morgn-zhurnal
(Morning journal) and Amerikaner (American). He more recently was publishing humorous
sketches in Forverts (Forward).
