BETSALEL BALEL (b. c. 1900)

Born in Kovel, Volhynia.  His father, Arn-Volf, had the nickname “the writer,” because he taught writing in Yiddish, Polish, and Russian.  From the end of the 1920s, he was in Argentina, a community leader, editor of Pinkes kovel (Records of Kovel), and publisher of Landslayt fareyn fun kovel un umgegnt (Association of Kovel and vicinity) (Buenos Aires, 1951, 509 pp.).  He wrote and adapted the greater part of the book.
