YANKEV (YAAKOV) BASMAN

YANKEV (YAAKOV) BASMAN
He was a wedding entertainer in Warsaw, author of a rhyming eulogy on the death of Moses Montefiore—“Der hesped fun moyshe montefyore” (Eulogy for Moses Montefiore)—“published” by R. Yehuda Leyb Rozenblat (Warsaw, 1885), 20 pp.  He may also have been the author of Lid fun rabunek (Song of pillage), a rhyming reportage concerning a pogrom in Warsaw in 1881, which due to censor’s markings came out in Lemberg.
