YEKHIEL FRENKEL (March 20, 1883-February 18, 1954)
He was
born in Rodem (Radom), Poland. He
studied with his father and private teachers, and he graduated from Dikshteyn’s
high school in Warsaw. From 1900 until
his death, he was an active Zionist leader.
He was one of the founder of the Tseire-Tsiyon (Zionist youth)
party. In 1935 he made aliya to the land
of Israel. He was among the first
contributors to Di velt (The world)
in Vienna and Haynt (Today) in
Warsaw. In addition to articles, he
published translations of historical stories.
He placed work in Hatsfira
(The siren), Haolam (The world), and Hahad
(The echo) in Warsaw (1922-1935); and he worked together with Rodemer keltser lebn (Radom and Kielce
life) and Rodemer shtime (Voice of Radom),
among others. In Israel he wrote for: Haarets (The land), Hazman (The times), and Haboker
(This morning), among others, in Tel Aviv.
He served as editor of Hatsiyoni
havatik (The veteran Zionist) in Tel Aviv (1937). He died in Tel Aviv.
