KHAYIM KAHAN


KHAYIM KAHAN
            He wrote for Oktyabr (October) and Shtern (Star) on pedagogical topics, language issues, and teaching methods for literature in Jewish schools.  He lived in Minsk and was a teacher in Jewish schools.  He was the author of: Shrakhkentenish (Linguistics), part 1 (Moscow: Central Publ. 1930), 159 pp., second edition (Minsk, 1931).  Together with Y. Rubin, he adapted Y. Y. Linetski’s Dos poylishe yingl (The Polish lad). for school use (Moscow-Minsk: Central Publ., 1930), 99 pp.  He co-edited Arbet-bukh af shprakh (Workbook for language) (Minsk: State Publ., 1932), 98 pp.  He translated Friedrich Engels’s Vegn historishn materyalizm (On historical materialism) (Minsk, 1933), 47 pp.
