DORA (DVORA) TSANIN (January 17, 1912-July 28, 1996)
The wife
of Mortkhe Tsanin, she was born in Volbrom (Wolbrom), Poland. She graduated from a Polish high school and a
higher agricultural school in Cracow (specializing in gardening). From 1929 until the outbreak of WWII (1939),
she lived in Warsaw. She subsequently
made her way to the land of Israel via Vilna.
She wrote articles on general questions for the Polish press. She was a contributor to the women’s journal Ewa (Eve) in Warsaw. From 1952 she switched to Yiddish. She was a regular contributor to Letste nayes (Latest news) in Tel
Aviv. In addition to articles on theater
and art, she published feature pieces on current issues. From 1966 she was editor of the women’s
supplement to Letste nayes. She excelled in her reviews of movies in the
journal Ilustrirte vokh (Illustrated
week) in Tel Aviv. Among her pen names:
Doris and D. Ts. She died in Tel Aviv.
