He came from Boslev (Bohuslav,
Boguslav), Kiev district, Ukraine. He
published several collections of his wedding entertainer and popular songs: Der elnter yosem (The lonely orphan), “lovely
Jewish songs” (n.p.: M. M. Belinsonm, 1872), 32 pp.; Yontefdige lider (Holiday songs), “or everyday songs with holiday
melodies, a satirical critique of life in verse” (Warsaw, 1886); Hagode in hayntiger tsayt (The
[Passover] Haggada in our own time) (Warsaw, 1885). M. Basin included in his anthology
Marakhovski’s song “Barkhu.”
