MOYSHE GOLD
He was born in Radomishle (Radomyśl), Galicia. He was one of the active leaders and
organizers of the Orthodox youth movement, Tseire Agudat
Yisrael (Agudat Yisrael youth) in Galicia, and he took part in their
conferences. He wrote stories in Hebrew
and in Yiddish. He began to publish his
work in the Warsaw Orthodox daily newspaper, Dos yidishe togblat (The
Jewish daily news). In the 1930s, in his
stories he described on the whole Jewish experiences under Nazi rule in Germany. He also published stories on social themes in
the organ of Poale Agudat Yisrael (Agudat Israel workers), Di yidishe
arbeter shtime (The voice of Jewish laborers) in Lodz. His Hebrew works were published in Darkenu
(Our way). During WWII and the German
occupation, he remained in Poland. He
died during the years of the Holocaust.
The place and date of his death, as well as other biographical information,
remain unknown. In Antologye fun
religyeze lider un dertsaylungen (Anthology of religious poems and
stories), ed. Moshe Prager (New York, 1955), his story “Der tilim-zoger” (The
reciter of Psalms) appears.
