ZAVL (ZEVULUN) KVARTIN (March 25, 1874-1953)
He was a
cantor, born in the colony of Novo Arkhangelsk (Novo-Arkhangel’skoye), Kherson Province. He came to the United States in 1920. Over the years 1926-1937, he lived in the
land of Israel. In book form: Mayn leben (My life) (Philadelphia-New
York, 1952), 2 vols., 580 pp. In Hebrew
he published: “Zemirot zevulin” (Zevulun’s melodies) and “Tefilot zevulin”
(Zevulun’s prayers). He died in
Philadelphia.
