YUDL KORMAN (May 14, 1905-July 23, 1979)
A
journalist whose original name was Barshtshevski, he was born in Volomin (Wołomin),
Poland. He studied in religious
elementary school and yeshiva. In 1926
he emigrated to Paris. He was active in
the leftist labor movement and a resistance fighter during the Nazi occupation
of France. He survived Auschwitz, left
for Poland, and in 1968 again came to France.
He published articles in Unzer prese
(Our press) and Yisroel shtime (Israel’s
voice), and he was co-editor of Folks-shtime
(Voice of the people) (1954-1968) and Unzer
shtime (Our voice) in Paris. In book
form: Mir bashuldikn (We accuse)
(Warsaw: Yidish bukh, 1963), 47 pp.; Mir
vorenen (We admonish) (Warsaw: Yidish bukh, 1965), 100 pp. Among his pen names: Y. Hindes, A. Kleynman,
and Y. Grin. He died in Paris.
