JACK KURITSKI


JACK KURITSKI (b. January 5, 1914)
            He was born Yitskhok Brudni in Smorgon (Smarhon’), Vilna region.  For his political activities, he was sent to the Kartuz-Bereza concentration camp in Poland.  In 1938 he emigrated to France and there received a diploma in chemical engineering.  From 1951 he wrote for Naye prese (new press) and Parizer tsaytshrift (Parisian periodicals) for which he was editor-in-chief from 1959.  He wrote articles on popular science and mainly literary criticism.  He also wrote under the pen name: Y. Zaks.  He was last living in Paris.
