YUDE-LEYB KORETS (b. July 3, 1963)
He was
born in Torne (Tarnów), Galicia. He
received a stringent religious education.
He was among the first “Lovers of Zion” (Ḥoveve-Tsiyon) in Galicia. He wrote about “Ḥibat-Tsiyon” (Love of Zion) for: Tagblat (Daily newspaper) in Lemberg, Drohobitsher tsaytung (Drohobycz
newspaper), and in Hebrew-language newspapers.
He published several Hebrew pamphlets on the settlement in the land of
Israel. In Yiddish: Der esreg (The citron) (Drohobycz: A. H. Zupnik, 1899), 30 pp.,
enlarged edition (Vilna: L. Epel, 1904), 55 pp.; Zikorn tsien o evn boykhn, erklerungen iber der tsienistisher idee
