TSEMEKH-DOVID KOLTHON
He was
born in Bila Tserkva, Kiev Province. He authored a booklet entitled Di groyse krom mit groyse vehtogin (The
big store with big suffering) (Berdichev, 1898), 48 pp. He complains that: “The bigger the store, / the
more the merchant suffers! / The promissory notes like a knife / always cut
into his heart!” Of meagre literary
value, but distinctive vis-à-vis shopkeeper psychology.
