NOTE KASTELANSKI (January 13, 1894-1942?)
He
studied in yeshiva. From 1921 he was one
of the principal contributors to Vilner
tog (Vilna day). In 1937 he
published a one-time piece Ofene diburim
(Open words) for a projected weekly newspaper.
He published longer works in: Unzer

history of Vilna in the years of war and occupation) (Vilna, 1922); M. Shalit’s
anthology, Fun yor tsu yor (From year
to year) (Warsaw, 1929); Shalit’s Almanakh
fun yidishn literatn un zhurnalistn farayn in vilne (Almanac of the Jewish
literary and journalistic association in Vilna) (Vilna, 1938). He was deported by the Soviet authorities in
1940 and died in Siberia.
