BEN-TSIEN
LEVITANUS (1890-August 1944)
He came from Lithuania. Until WWII he lived in Lodz. He conducted courses in tailoring, both
private and in Lodz’s ORT (Association for the Promotion of Skilled Trades). He was the author of Tsushnayd-metode, dem shnayders-fraynd loyt dem nayesten durkhshnit-sistem
far tsivil-militer un kinder baklaydung (Cutting methods, the tailor’s
friend according to the newest cutting system for civil-military and children’s
clothing) (Lodz, 1929), 134 pp. He died
during deportation to Auschwitz in August 1944.
