YISROEL
TRUT (b. 1908)
He was born in Russia. In 1928 he moved to Canada and settled in
Winnipeg. He was a member of the
Canadian young Yiddish poets’ group. He
began writing poetry in Russia and in 1930 switched to Yiddish. He contributed to: Dos idishe vort (The Jewish word) in Winnipeg; Der hamer (The hammer) in New York; Vokhnblat (Weekly newspaper) in Toronto; and Der kamf (The struggle) in Montreal; among others.
