TSHESNO (September 29, 1886)
He was born in Polotsk (Polatsk),
Russia. In 1907 he emigrated to Copenhagen. There he was a cofounder of a library,
reading room, and singers’ association.
He contributed to the first Yiddish periodical in Copenhagen: Dos vokhn blat (The weekly newspaper)
(1911-1921), in which he published poems, stories, and translations from
Russian and Danish fictional writings.
From late 1921 he was living in the United States. He lived for a time in Boston. Until 1931 he published stories in Frayhayt (Freedom) in New York, and he
then ceased writing and turned his attention to painting. He was last living in New York.
