BELA BELERINA

BELA BELERINA (July 15, 1898-January 1, 1969)
            She was an actress, born in Warsaw.  Her original surname was Rubinlikht.  She played with Warsaw’s Hazemir (The nightingale) and with the Vilna Troupe, as well as with Maurice Schwartz’s Art Theater in New York, where she emigrated in 1924.  She published in Fraye arbeter shtime (Free voice of labor) and Forverts (Forward) in New York.  Her humorous theater sketches and memoirs were published in Problemen (Issues) (Tel Aviv) 55 and 56 (1969).  She died in New York.
