SHMUEL-NOTE TSITRIN (April 12, 1922-September 4, 1973).
The
adopted surname of Sh.-N, Tsitrinovitsh, he was born in Warsaw. He studied in the Borokhov school and later
in an artisans’ middle school in Warsaw.
He was by trade a typesetter. He
was a member of the left Labor Zionist party.
In 1941 he emigrated to the United States, and in the same year began
writing stories. The first story, “A
brivele der mamen” (A letter to Mother) was published in Proletarisher gedank (Proletarian idea). He contributed work to: Unzer veg (Our way), Amerikaner
(American), and other serials, in New York; and Unzer vort (Our word) in Paris; among others. From 1959 he was publishing in Tog-morgn-zhurnal (Day-morning journal)
in New York, once each week, impressions from the courts. The descriptions excelled in their graphic
quality and were among the most popular items in the newspaper. He also wrote under the pen name
Inventorzh. He was also a proofreader
for Tog-morgn-zhurnal. He died in New York.
