GITL TSITRIN (CITRIN) (b. April 1, 1893)
She was
born in Opole, Poland, and graduated from a public school. In 1913 he came to the United States, where
she attended high school. She published poetry
in: Feder (Pen), Nyu Yorker vokhnblat (New York weekly newspaper), Tog (Day), Zayn (Being), and Fraye
arbeter shtime (Free voice of labor), among others, in New York. Her work also appeared in Mortkhe Yofe’s Erets yisroel in der yidisher literatur
(The land of Israel in Yiddish literature) (Tel Aviv, 1961). She worked with the secular Jewish schools. In book form: Blumen far perlen (Flowers for Perl), poetry (New York, 1966), 192
pp. This book was dedication to the
memory of the untimely death of poetess’s daughter Perl. At the end of the volume is an assessment by
Sh. Grinshpan. She also published
musical compositions to eight of the poems.
She was last living in Brooklyn, New York.
